Give the small dog a bone

“Dear Abby” was recently faced with a very important question from “In the doghouse in Alaska”, to gift or not to gift?  A short excerpt for those who don’t click on the links, “Now, my sister-in-law has asked twice that we purchase gifts for her dog — wrapped, no less —because her dog likes opening packages! I ignored her request the first time. After the second one, I told her we don’t ask people to purchase gifts for our kids, and we don’t purchase gifts for other people’s pets. Now she’s offended.”  The following is my response”

Dear in the Doghouse in Alaska:
While I understand being irritated by “forced” and obligatory gift giving, would it kill you to wrap up an empty box for this poor pup to unwrap under the tree?  Commerce Bank even gives out free bones at their counters and drive thrus, would it pain you to sneak a few handfuls every now and then and fill the box with those?  Your sister-in-law might be crazy, but it’s obvious that she’s crazy for dogs!

Sincerely,
Smalldogarific
