Carmel by the small dog sea

This summer I traveled to Monterrey, California and passed through Carmel, but was unaware of their love and support for dogs. This Wednesday the Carmel Plaza Shopping Center is hosting a red-carpet release party for the unveiling of a city sponsored dog calendar! It sounds like the auditions for this calendar rivaled those of American Idol…”The day of the casting call, dogs and their owners stood in a line nearly two blocks long (some for almost four hours) for the opportunity to audition.” Dogs were judged in categories like personality, charm, face and first impression. It sounds like it was a talented group of pups, some were well versed in apple picking, moonwalking and yoga. Ah, to be a fly on the wall!
I hope to one day meet a Cardigan Welsh Corgie. Doesn’t that small dog look so dignified and stately? I wonder if he is an elected official?
