Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the smallest dog of all?
December 14th, 2006
“The entertainment begins with a circus routine that delights children of all ages. Thrill to “Magic The Dog” dancing, spinning and jumping through hoops to festive music. Her comedy jailbreak routine will keep you laughing and laughing. The show continues with “The Learned Dog Act”. Magic The Dog adds, subtracts, answers the phone and performs food and card tricks. Her mind-reading abilities and canine hypnosis will amaze you.”
I am definitely hiring Bill & His Dog Magic for my next birthday party!
An article entitled, Why Televised Dog Shows Are A Sham, appeared today on The New Republic website. It raises several interesting points. It likens “this entire dog-show extravaganza” to ”an exercise in eugenics.” What I most appreciate in this article are two quotes, one by Nietzsche and another by Kafka.
Friedrich Nietzsche: “The world was conquered through the understanding of dogs; the world exists through the understanding of dogs.”
Franz Kafka: “All knowledge, the totality of all questions and answers, is contained in the dog.”
Truer words have never been spoken.
Today’s Headlines:
Josie Saves A Life: “Josie, a brown and white shih tzu and rat terrier mix, saved the life of her owner…This little dog is a wonderful example of why dogs have earned the title of man’s best friend.”
Assembly to Band Electric Shock Dog Collars: “Environment Minister Carwyn Jones said today he will ban electric shock dog training collars…He said they were “totally barbaric” and would ban them when the Animal Welfare Act comes into force in March.”
Local Man Dies Trying to Save Dog: “Aman from Pedra Mourinha in Portimão died last week as he tried to save his dog from an oncoming train.”
Pennsylvania has long been known as “the puppy mill of the east,” hopefully the new committee the governor appointed will do something about it! New Pa. dog board convenes: Gov. Rendell appointed all new members, expecting they will be more aggressive in regulating breeders.
In closing:
