Anyone got a few thousand to spare? I am thinking of getting the “Louis XVI-style four-poster bed.”
A small dog named Zoey is lucky to be alive after being found in the mouth of a coyote in her backyard. The Arizona Game & Fish Dept has some advice, “Keep all pet food inside, cut back on vegetation because it’s a hiding place for coyotes and never leave your pets alone because a coyote can easily jump a six foot fence with a small dog in its mouth.” What talent and skill! I’d like to see that.

A hydrant painted in the likeness of an American flag was pulled from a dog park after complaints that it is disrespectful to let dogs use it to take care of business. The hydrant was added as a tribute to Hondo, a police dog killed 10 years ago chasing a suspect. Louanne Douris, a retired U.S. foreign services officer wrote, “that gallant dog must be turning in his grave at the thought of the flag being desecrated every time a dog pees on that hydrant!” God bless America!
Chicago police were called upon, when a pup named Miss Pickles took a dip in the Chicago river. Miss Pickles had been out walking with her owner when she went off to chase something and ended up in the river paddling around for more than 15 minutes before being pulled to safety. Does anyone else agree that Miss Pickles is the most magical name ever? Henceforth, all dogs shall swim freely and carry the name of Pickles. “Get back here Baby Pickles, Jr., III.” I like the sound of that.

The orders are just pouring in for the hybrid wolf puppies. To everyone who placed an order, delivery time is believed to be between 2 days and 14-15 years. I apologize in advance for any difficulties this may cause.

Michael Vick just can’t get enough.
And now, on to some good news. Congratulations to SETexas Yorkie Rescue with the National Maltese and Small Dog Rescue Alliance, the biggest, little small dog rescue in the US. Now, let’s see who can say that three times fast.
A sculpture of Jesus as a well-endowed dog is causing quite a stir in Sweden. The sculpture was installed on a roundabout in Skaanes Fagerhult, a town in the south of Sweden, but it disappeared within hours. “In Nordic countries the display of outlandish sculptures of dogs on roundabouts is a familiar art form which has become common in the past decade.” Can anyone confirm or deny? Photos please! I think I need to start planning a trip.

Dear Professor:
Smalldogarific has been absent from school due to upper respiratory congestion.
Best,
Mr. & Mrs. Smalldogarific
P.S.: Happy Fall!

Now is as good a time as any to get a jump start on your New Year’s resolutions and hone your canine freestyle skills. “”You have to pick out music that goes with your dog…The dogs can do figure eights around your legs. They spin, and we spin. Sometimes they’re on their hind legs. They can wave, do marching things, jump over things.”
Did anyone catch this sight of dog magnificence?
Authorities are saying that DMX is no Michael Vick, but something is definitely going on at the rapper’s Phoenix home. Police recently raided his home and found the carcasses of three dogs, that apparently were burned beyond recognition.

Military police in Amsterdam made a shocking (and delightful discovery) at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport. An airport employee heard strange noises coming from a luggage locker and alerted the military police. When the locker was opened they found, “a small keeshond dog in a carrier bag stuffed between several suitcases. The dog’s owner did leave some water and dog food in the locker.” So thoughtful!
A sixth month old puppy has gone missing after taking a ride on a tornado.
If you are thinking of getting a hyprid wolf puppy, read this first! Important characteristics to note: they can “dig under any fence within minutes…howl every night…Jump an 8 foot fence.” I’d like to pre-order two hybrid wold puppies with laser beam eyes. Thanks. Anyone else want to tack a few on to my order?

Does that small dog look dangerous? Does she strike fear in your heart? Apparently that little “sausage dog” Lucy and her owner were taken to court by a neighbor who claimed that Lucy was left to run wild and once bit him on the ankles. After 11-months in court, a judge recently concluded that this little sausage dog is of no threat. I think the American Kennel Club should officially change the breed name to “sausage dog.”

There’s some big small dog news out of China, a little black dog in Huojia County, Henan Province was so upset by the death of his small dog companion that he refused to eat. “The two hounds were playing on a highway in Xiaoguanzhuang Village on Sunday morning when his companion, a white dog, suddenly passed away for no apparent reason. The black dog appeared to be in mourning and refused to budge from his friend’s corpse. He also refused to eat anything all day.”

Jennifer Gleason thought she’d never see her pug Cupcake again, after a thief took off with her in the night two years ago, but just last week Jennifer received a call in the night that someone had found Cupcake! Two sisters, Melissa and Melinda, found the pup abandoned on the side of the road and described the joyous reunion, “”I was emotional,” Melinda said. “I was crying. She was crying, and Cupcake was like, ‘What’s going on?”” Poor, innocent cupcake, she is lucky to have survived the mean, cruel streets.

Cujo may have given dogs a bad name, but the truth is that cats are the real trouble makers when it comes to rabies. “As 45 countries celebrated the first World Rabies Day Saturday to draw attention to the world’s leading rabies culprit — dogs — the United States faces a larger problem from domestic cat breeds.” I can’t believe I missed World Rabies Day too!
Congratulations to Baby Girl & Golden Boy on their recent nuptials. The ceremony went something like this (SERIOUSLY):
“In the shade of a tree decorated with doggy biscuits, the furry couple exchanged bracelets and blessings.”
“Do you take Baby Girl to be your only bitch?” He did.
“Do you take Golden Boy to be your only stud?” She did.
“I now pronounce you stud and bitch,” Rabbi Woof said. “You may now smell each other.”

The misdemeanor charge will be dismissed after one year if she complies with those conditions.” I repeat, what do we want? SMALL DOGS! When do we want them? NOW!

It looks like Leona Helmsley’s dog Trouble might end up with the same reputation as her mother. Helmsley’s left custody of Trouble to her brother Alan Rosenthal, but yesterday, he revealed that he doesn’t want her. I bet Leona is turning in her grave. And, to all prospective suitors, I forgot to mention yesterday that Leona Helmsley’s dog Trouble is being sued for some for of that cool $12 million. Zamfira Sfara, a former housekeeper for Leona has already tried (unsuccessfully) to sue Helsmley’s over a previously infected bite from Trouble. This is a reality show waiting to happen. I am sure they can figure out a way to work in Danny Lynn, and make it an instant hit!

Steve alerted me to the Whoopi Goldberg/Michael Vick controversy. Apparently, she decided to use to her new post on the view to defend Michael Vick’s attrocious dog fighting antics. Goldberg said on the show, “he’s from the South, from the Deep South … This is part of his cultural upbringing.”
Dear Whoopi,
While I think it is important to consider how people are raised and socialied and how this may influence and dictate their actions, I simply don’t agree.
Best,

Dog Mommies are becoming a growing trend in Japan. “Dogs now outnumber children aged 10 and under in Japan — there were 13.1 million dogs in 2006…For Horikoshi, sharing her life with dogs instead of babies is an active choice. She divorced her husband who had asked her to follow Japanese tradition and become a stay-at-home mum; she wanted to pursue her career. Her current partner has to accept that her dogs and her work are at the center of her life.” What do we want? SMALL DOGS! When do we want them? NOW!
